Salvation Army Seeks Angel Tree Donors

Beginning today, the Oxnard-Port Hueneme Salvation Army is again looking for “angels” willing to provide needy children with Christmas gifts.
The group is scheduled to erect its fourth annual Angel Tree at 10 a.m. at the north end of The Esplanade shopping center in Oxnard.
The tree is covered with angel ornaments each assigned to a child. Listed on the ornament is information about the child that someone selecting a gift would need to know.
“Last year we were able to make Christmas a little brighter for upwards of 3,000 children through this program,” advisory board Chairman Robert Butz said. “Because of the generous donations of our local residents, about 7,500 gifts of toys and clothing ranging in value from $3 to $50 were provided to these children.”
Angel Tree gifts are distributed to families with the Salvation Army’s holiday baskets, which includes food and a grocery store gift certificate.
