HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER ROUNDUP : Double Overtime Pays Off for Alemany

Alemany High won a pair of matches in the South Torrance soccer tournament on penalty kicks Saturday, defeating South Torrance, 3-2, and Dos Pueblos, 1-0.
The Indians (2-0) used the same formula in both shootouts. Goalie Marcia Davalos made two saves each time and Tiffany Thompson scored the deciding penalty kicks.
In other South Torrance tournament matches:
Harvard-Westlake 2, Redondo 1--Jessica Post and Susan Baise scored for the Wolverines (3-0).
Harvard-Westlake 2, Buena 1--The Wolverines (4-0) outscored the Bulldogs, 5-4, on penalty kicks. Harvard-Westlake’s Jessica Post and Buena’s Teresa Almaraz scored in regulation.
Royal 2, Lakewood 0--Camille Butcher and Angie Vicari scored for the Highlanders (1-0).
Royal 1, Edison 0--Alicia Bartholomew scored the deciding penalty kick and Melissa Endy made 15 saves for the Highlanders (2-0).
BOYS
Royal 1, Glendale 0--Jesse Garner took a pass from Caleb Westbay and scored with eight minutes to play as the Highlanders (2-0-1) defeated the Dynamiters (2-1-0) in a pool-play match at the Burroughs tournament.
Brian Pineau of Royal saved a penalty kick with two minutes left.

Alemany 0, Royal 0--The frustrated Highlanders (1-0-1) outshot the Indians, 20-0.
Kennedy 2, Alhambra 1--Carlos Perez scored in the 64th minute for the Golden Cougars (2-0-1) to break a 1-1 tie.
Kennedy 1, Burroughs 0--Carlos Perez scored in the 59th minute as the Golden Cougars (3-0-1) defeated the Indians (2-1-1).
Glendale 1, Bishop Montgomery 0--Gilbert Agaverdyan scored in the eighth minute as the Dynamiters (2-0) defeated the Knights (1-2-1).
Saugus 0, Arcadia 0--Jason Berriz made 10 saves for the Centurions (3-0-1) and Matt Didier stopped four shots for the Apaches (2-0-1).
Newbury Park 0, Burroughs 0--Jose Arias made four saves for the Indians (2-0-1) while Brian Vargas stopped six shots for the Panthers (1-1-2).
Rio Mesa 6, Calabasas 0--Greg Molthu scored twice and the Spartans (3-0-1) led, 5-0, at halftime in the Calabasas tournament.
