Rubbermaid to Cut 1,260 Jobs: The Wooster, Ohio-based consumer products maker will cut up to 1,260 jobs, or 9% of its work force, as part of a two-year effort to streamline the company, officials said. Rubbermaid Inc., which makes plastic and rubber housewares, health care products, toys and office furniture, will also sell off nine properties involved in manufacturing or distribution. The changes will result in a charge against earnings in the fourth quarter. The company did not specify which of its facilities will be closed or sold. A company spokeswoman did not know how many jobs will be affected at the distribution warehouses slated for closure in Carson; Markham and Oakville, Canada; and Mexico City.
