Southeast : NEW AIRLINE

Catering to traffic-weary business travelers, Long Beach-based Sterling One airline takes to the air today under the slogan “no peanuts, no plastic.”
The airline offers a first-class flight daily to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, said Sterling President Lita Quetnick. Service will expand to two flights a day on Sundays and Fridays beginning Dec. 15, she said.
The company chose the Long Beach Airport, she said, because its freeway access typically offers lighter traffic than Los Angeles and John Wayne airports.
The new airline was welcomed at the airport, which is struggling to attract more airlines and daily flights. Sterling is the second airline to begin service at the airport since September.
