As his six children administered the oath of office to him, George B. Scott on Tuesday became the city’s mayor for the fifth time.
Outgoing Mayor Guy Carrozzo turned the gavel over to Scott, who has served on the council a total of 21 years. Councilman James D. Petrikin was selected to serve as mayor pro tem.
Scott, first elected to the council in 1969, said he will implement a “five-star” program. Topping his list, Scott said, is to encourage the teamwork that has developed among council members.
Scott, 63, an insurance broker, also pledged to promote family values in the community, maintain the drug awareness program in schools, work toward incorporating a gang violence awareness program and continue to support police and fire services and the Neighborhood Watch program.
