Eritrea-Yemen Cease-Fire Reported

SANA, Yemen — Eritrea has agreed to a cease-fire with Yemen to end fighting over disputed islands in the southern Red Sea, BBC World Service radio reported today.
The BBC quoted an Eritrean government statement as saying the cease-fire followed a telephone conversation between the presidents of Eritrea and Yemen.
Earlier, official Yemeni sources said the two countries fought a fierce battle with aircraft and warships over the disputed islands, including Hanish Kabir.
