Update : Follow-up on the news : COSTA MESA : College Instructors Win 3% Pay Raise
- Share via
Coast Community College District faculty members have won a 3% pay increase after months of negotiations.
The raise was less than the 5% the professors had asked for but more than the 2% the district had offered at first.
Paul Jordan, a spokesman for the teachers union, said the district is wealthier this year because its staff is smaller.
District officials, however, said it was impossible to pay the professors another 5% because most of the additional money in the budget had already been allocated.
The pay raise is retroactive to July 1, when the teachers’ previous contract expired.
