Swimming Against the ‘Mainstream’

I wish English-language television in Los Angeles was more like KMEX.
It’s time that Spanish-language stations like KMEX get credit for their viewership in “mainstream” newspapers such as The Times. It’s time that we who view KMEX are not seen by “mainstream” newspapers as invisible and are not marginalized by sloppy reporting or racist intent.
KMEX recently put up billboards in some parts of Los Angeles celebrating its No. 1 ratings position in October. It’s unfortunate that TV writers and their editors at The Times never go to those parts of town.
