COUNTERPUNCH LETTERS : ‘President’ Was Fantasy
- Share via
With regard to Burt Prelutsky’s article “ ‘American President’ Misses the Reality” (Calendar, Dec. 18), we saw that movie when it opened and it was a delightful fantasy with wonderful actors. It wasn’t supposed to be factual even though it would be wonderful if it could be that way. Remember the movie “Dave” a couple of years ago? That was a very delightful, uplifting, entertaining movie that was fantasy also. No violence, no intense sexual activity, just a chance to see a movie that would be terrific if it were true.
It is rare that we are able to enjoy a movie without all the explosions, murders, rapes and drive-by shootings. Why can’t we just be entertained, even if it isn’t factual? If you want factual, watch a documentary.
