Engineering Animation Files for IPO: Hoping to duplicate the success of Pixar Inc., the 3D animation technology company has filed the Securities and Exchange Commission to sell stock in an initial public offering. The Ames, Iowa-based company did not specify in the filing how much stock it would sell in the offering, whether existing shareholders would also sell shares or the price at which the stock would be sold. For the purposes of calculating a SEC filing fee, however, Engineering Animation said it would sell 2.46 million shares at $14 a share. Under those terms, the offering would allow the company to raise proceeds of $34.4 million. Pixar, the computer animation company behind the Walt Disney Co. movie “Toy Story,” went public in November.
