Richard Rodriquez, a lifelong Ventura County resident, died Tuesday at his Port Hueneme home after a long illness. He was 40.
Rodriquez was born Jan. 30, 1955, in Santa Paula.
He was a landscaper in the Oxnard and Port Hueneme area and also operated a tax preparation and consulting business. He had previously worked as a supplier for the federal government.
“He was a hard worker and very dedicated to his work,” said his stepson, Michael Rodriquez of Port Hueneme.
Richard Rodriquez served in the U.S. Army infantry for two years. He attended Oxnard Community College where he earned an associate of arts degree in business administration in 1980.
He is survived by his wife, Estella; his daughters, Teresa and Valerie Rodriquez, both of Port Hueneme, and Corina Speeny of Washington; his stepchildren, Monica, Erica and Michael Rodriquez, all of Port Hueneme; his mother, Connie G. Rodriquez of Port Hueneme; his stepmother, Toni G. Rodriquez of Port Hueneme; his grandmother, Mary M. Rodriquez of Oxnard; his sisters, Elizabeth A. Rodriquez of Oxnard and Mary Villagomez of Port Hueneme; his brothers, Robert Rodriquez of Port Hueneme and Anthony Rodriquez and Michael Rodriquez, both of Oxnard; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at All Saints Episcopal Church in Oxnard. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at All Saints Episcopal Church. Burial will follow in Santa Clara Cemetery in Oxnard.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Guardian Memorial Funeral Directors of Ventura County.
