ADM to Add More Outside Directors: In an apparent attempt to placate angry investors, Archer-Daniels-Midland Co. announced plans to replace several board members with directors free of ties to senior management. ADM directors adopted the suggestions of a committee formed to respond to those complaints, said Dwayne Andreas, chairman and chief executive of the Decatur, Ill., food processor. Several directors plan to step down this year and ADM will add more outside board members at its annual meeting next fall, Andreas said. Ten of the 17 ADM directors are current or former company executives and the other seven directors have financial and personal ties to top ADM management.
