Central Los Angeles : Banners Proclaim Neighborhood Pride
- Share via
To show a little community pride in the Los Feliz Village area, 50 new banners are being put up along the commercial zones of Vermont and Hillhurst avenues.
The banners were designed by Roman Shea, 18, who has attended public schools in the area since elementary school. He graduated from Marshall High School last spring.
Shea’s design was chosen in a contest sponsored by the Los Feliz Village Business Assn., said Elizabeth Klock, president of the association.
“The banners are a wonderful presence on the streets,” Klock said.
Local businesses--including long-established hot spots such as the Derby, the Dresden Room and Palermo restaurants--all contributed to the banner fund, which totals more than $4,000, Klock said.
In addition to the colorful banners, the association has arranged for the streets to be steam-cleaned and has planted trees along Hillhurst, Klock said.
