World IN BRIEF : JORDAN : Iraqi Defector Says He Plans to Return

A top-level Iraqi defector said Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein has “welcomed” his request to go home. “I’ll be returning to Iraq with my wife and my children, hopefully within days,” Lt. Gen. Hussein Kamel Majid said. Majid, a son-in-law of Hussein’s, has lived in Jordan since defecting along with his brother and their wives, both daughters of Hussein, on Aug. 8. Officials at the Iraqi Embassy in Jordan would not comment on Majid’s plans, and there was no reaction from Baghdad.
