A Reason to Go ‘Mad’

Regarding your article on “Saturday Night Live’s” competition (“ ‘Mad TV’ gives ‘SNL’ a Run for Its Ratings,” March 23). As an African American who is lesbian, I am increasingly bored with “SNL’s” refusal to break out of its white male-centered universe and constant gay-bashing. Fox’s “Mad TV” features a diverse and talented cast and funny, fresh sketches. I expect Roseanne’s new show will do likewise. Hurray for Fox for giving me a Saturday night alternative.
