Social Security Demise a Rumor

Someone must put a stop to the current unfounded rumor that people such as Kurt English are spreading regarding the future of Social Security (“On O.C.’s GOP, This English Is Outspoken,” March 4).
The newly elected president of the Orange County Young Republicans alleges that most people in his age group don’t believe they will ever see a Social Security check.
What rubbish! Just imagine the first person to be told: “Sorry, we’re cutting off retirement benefits starting with you.”
Oh, and by the way, I guess English is supposing the Pentagon, our troops in Asia, farm subsidies, space programs and the like will go on as usual while we are telling people reaching their senior years to figure out for themselves how to go about eating.
