Air Force Grounds Fleet

WASHINGTON — The Air Force said Friday it had grounded its Italian-made fleet of 10 C-27A transport aircraft for safety checks after small cracks were found in a tail attachment on one plane.
All of the twin-engine turboprop planes, the military version of the commercial Alenia G-222 built in Naples, Italy, are based in Panama.
