SEATTLE — Fire tore through a mobile home early Thursday and killed a family of four who could not escape because the nearest door was padlocked from the outside, officials said.
Firefighters found the bodies, including two children, in a bedroom in the trailer near Ephrata, Wash., about 130 miles east of Seattle. The door nearest the bedroom was locked from the outside, apparently because the latch was broken, fire officials said.
