SAN CLEMENTE — A fund-raiser for cancer patient Megan Dammeyer is planned for 8 p.m. today at the San Clemente Community Center.
The event will include music by local bands the Eliminators and the San Clemente Scots Drum and Pipes, and will feature dancing, food, a raffle and silent auction.
Dammeyer, who plans to attend the celebration, learned of the lymphoma in her lungs last July on her 30th birthday and has since undergone radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
Organizer and family friend Janna Wilson said more than 45 San Clemente businesses and residents have donated their time and services to the fund-raiser. She said they hope to raise $15,000 to $20,000 to help Dammeyer and her husband pay her medical bills.
Tickets are $25 and may be purchased at the door.
In addition, donations can be made to the Megan Dammeyer trust fund at the Wells Fargo Bank branch at 638 Camino De Los Mares, San Clemente.
