Targon’s Blast Flattens Woodland Hills East, 7-6

Brian Targon’s three-run home run with two out in the seventh inning powered Sepulveda to a 7-6 victory over Woodland Hills East in an American Legion District 20 game Thursday at Taft High.
Targon’s blast gave Sepulveda (1-2) a 7-5 lead, but Alonzo Arreola homered for Woodland Hills East (2-1) in the bottom of the inning before Rich Waisberg (1-0) recorded the third out.
Targon had three hits, including a triple, and four runs batted in.
Las Virgenes East 8, Valley South 6--Josh Goldfield drove in two runs with a pair of doubles for Las Virgenes East (4-0).
Adam Davey added a double and three RBIs.
Van Nuys East 5, Studio City 4--Bases-loaded walks to Mike Acosta and Marc Jannone in the top of the seventh forced home the tying and winning runs for Van Nuys East (4-1).
Valley North 11, Granada Hills East 1--Frank Dipoma hit a two-run home run and had a run-scoring triple for Valley North (4-1).
Sunland Tujunga 4, Mission Hills 3--Ethan Slimak’s bases-loaded single in the eighth scored Robby Mikels with the winning run after Mike Gallegos had tied it with a run-scoring single in the seventh. Jason Robitaille (2-0) pitched four shutout innings of relief.
Santa Clarita South 11, Antelope Valley South 5--Bobby Graves (1-0) pitched four hitless innings, striking out nine and walking one for Santa Clarita South (3-0).
