Antenna Installation Rules to Be Drawn Up

With applications to install microwave antennas increasing, the City Council asked the planning staff this week to draw up an ordinance that would set some rules for the fast-growing telecommunications industry.
The request for a law originated with city planners, who cited a need to settle several antenna-related issues, including height limits and how close the equipment should be allowed to businesses, residences or schools.
Senior Planner Gayle Ackerman said a proposal should be ready to present to the council by August.
