SAN FRANCISCO — The Colorado Rockies optioned pitcher Bryan Rekar to Triple-A Colorado Springs Monday and recalled right-hander Jamey Wright, who manager Don Baylor said would start Wednesday night’s game against the Giants.
“I think the last two days of the Dodgers series (the Rockies gave up 28 runs in those games) made us think, why not try it?,” Baylor said.
Wright, 21, was 4-2 with a 2.72 ERA in nine starts at Colorado Springs after starting the season at Double-A New Haven, Conn..
Rekar, 2-3 with a 9.64 ERA in nine starts, was the starter and loser in Saturday night’s 13-10 loss to the Dodgers.
