A youth who got lost after going to a movie with friends was shot to death in South Gate when suspected gang members boxed in his car and opened fire, police said Monday.
Raul Felix, 17, of East Los Angeles was pronounced dead early Sunday at St. Francis Hospital in Lynwood.
Investigators said Felix and a friend had dropped off his friend’s date and were looking for an onramp to the Long Beach Freeway when two carloads of suspected gang members blockaded his auto near Atlantic Boulevard and Imperial Highway and began shooting.
Felix was hit in the head and shoulder. His companion was not injured. The assailants fled, and there have been no arrests.
Investigators said Felix and his companion were not believed to have had gang connections.
