Orange Coast’s Livsey Takes CBA Position

Herb Livsey, an assistant men’s basketball coach at Orange Coast College, announced Tuesday he will retire from teaching in late December to become director of player development for the Continental Basketball Assn.
Livsey, 60, intends to continue as an assistant to Tim O’Brien at OCC this season, and also might continue coaching there the next year if his travel schedule allows.
Livsey was Orange Coast’s head coach from 1969-76.

Fred Hoover has joined the Chapman baseball staff as an assistant coach.
Hoover, who was head coach at Golden West College for 23 years, will be pitching coach and assist Coach Rex Peters in recruiting.
Hoover’s Golden West teams won seven conference championships. He later was an assistant at Cal State Fullerton for two years and at UC Irvine for one before returning to Golden West as an assistant the last four seasons.

Brandon Beeson, a senior at Woodbridge High, has orally committed to play basketball for Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, said Dave Cowen, the school’s athletic director.
Beeson, a 6-foot-6 forward who was a second-team All-Sea View League selection, averaged 14 points and 10 rebounds a game.
