Hillary Rodham Clinton’s speech about women’s progress since the 1995 U.N. World Conference on Women in Beijing will be aired live Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at UC Irvine.
The national telecast is being sponsored by the Interagency Council on Women, a group established by President Clinton to advocate equal rights for women.
Issues that will be discussed during the three-hour program “The United Nations Women’s Conference One Year Later” include abortion, domestic violence, political empowerment, affirmative action, health care and rights in the workplace.
About 20 Orange County women who flew to Beijing last year to participate in the conference plan to attend the viewing at UCI. The showing is hosted by the National Organization for Women South Orange County chapter and the UCI Center for Women and Gender Education.
The public is invited to attend. Information: (714) 856-1238.
