Golden West’s Newspaper Honored

Golden West College’s student newspaper, the Western Sun, has won second place in general excellence among community college papers in the state.
The California Newspaper Publishers Assn., which judged the contest, voted the student newspaper at Santa Barbara City College the best newspaper.
Jim Tortolano is Golden West newspaper’s advisor.
“This award is very significant to us because all the community college newspapers in the state were in the same category, not broken up by format or enrollment,” Tortolano said.
“To rank among the top two out of 105 community colleges in California is petty good, I think.”
