This is where the Eagles feel they can prove they deserve to be counted among the big boys. They reached the Southern Section Division V quarterfinals last year and have 16 returning starters but say they were snubbed in preseason polls and by Sea View League coaches, who picked El Toro to win the league title. Servite advanced to the division championship game last season and lost to El Toro. Friar quarterback Greg Cicero sprained a ligament in his right hand in the first half of the Friars 24-20 victory over Esperanza in the opener. However, Cicero passed for 145 yards in a 35-19 victory over Irvine last week.
