Newbury Park 40, Simi Valley 21--Garrett Hobba rushed for 163 yards in 20 carries and scored four touchdowns to lead the Panthers (4-1, 1-1) to a Marmonte League victory at Newbury Park.
Hobba scored on runs of two 12 and 12 yards and also a caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from Chris Czernek.
Czernek completed 24 of 43 for 249 yards and one touchdown with no interceptions. The Panthers’ Chris Garty had nine receptions.
The Panthers trailed Simi Valley (2-3, 0-2) early, 7-0 and 14-7, but fought back to tie the score, 21-21 at halftime.
Newbury Park scored 19 unanswered points in the second half to put the game away.
