Reseda, Belmont Play It Even, 1-1

In a matchup of two of the City Section’s top boys’ soccer teams, Reseda High and Belmont tied, 1-1, Friday in pool play at the Birmingham tournament.
Midfielder Marvin Quijano gave Reseda (4-0-1) the lead with 15 minutes to play but the Sentinels (3-1), defending section champions, pulled even on Ruben Campos’ goal 10 minutes later.
In other tournament matches:
Monroe 1, Verdugo Hills 0--Wilson Herrera scored midway through the second half, lifting the Vikings (1-2-1).
In the Marina tournament:
Simi Valley 1, Huntington Beach 0--Craig Chelius’ goal was the difference in a first-round match.
Simi Valley 5, Leuzinger 2--John Gonzalez and Scott Williams each scored two goals in a second-round match.
The Pioneers (12-0-1) play Esperanza on Monday at Marina.
In the Hart tournament:
Cleveland 1, Glendale 0--Iker Quilez converted a penalty kick with 10 minutes to play, lifting the Cavaliers (5-0-2) in pool play.
Cleveland 2, Valencia 1--Oscar Garcia scored late in the first half and David Bulko scored early in the second half for the Cavaliers (6-0-2).
Chaminade 3, Ridgecrest Burroughs 0--Chris Swatosh scored two goals to lead Chaminade (3-3-1).
Grant 1, Canyon 0--Francisco Soto scored to lead Grant (7-2-2).
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Crescenta Valley 7, Costa Mesa Estancia 0--Stephanie Rigamat scored four goals in an Ocean View tournament match.
In the Foothill tournament:
Chaminade 1, North Torrance 1--Lindsey Horn scored for Chaminade (10-1-3).
Redlands 2, Chaminade 1--Kerrie Clavadetscher accounted for the Eagles’ (10-1-2) goal. a
In the Hart tournament:
Arroyo Grande 3, Burroughs 1--Mandy Richman scored in the first half to tie the score, 1-1, but the Indians (2-5) fell in a first-round match.
Canyon 1, Ventura 0--Nicki Melillo scored with five minutes to play, lifting the Cowboys (5-1-4).
Ventura 2, Rio Mesa 1--Kitty Sexton and Sarah Costello each scored for the Cougars (5-1-3).
In the Lancaster tournament:
Littlerock 4, Frazier Mountain 2--Alisia Garcia scored twice for Littlerock in a pool play match.
Lancaster 1, Frazier Mountain 0--Stephanie Nelson scored for the Eagles (4-5-1).
Lancaster 3, Littlerock 2--Stephanie Nelson scored twice, including the winning goal, for the Eagles (5-5-1).
Highland 12, Rosamond 0--Priscilla Martinez scored three goals for the Bulldogs (3-5-2).
Highland 5, Ridgecrest Burroughs 0--Jenna Cheshier and Elissa Ferguson each scored twice for the Bulldogs (4-5-2).
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Canyons 100, Fremont Ohlone 56--Gohar Tumanian had 20 points to lead Canyons (10-2) in the first round of the Fullerton tournament.
El Camino 62, Valley 57--Tanya McLaughlin scored 18 points for Valley (8-6) in a first-round game of the Fullerton tournament.
Pepperdine 104, Concordia 66--Freshman Jodi Sackville scored a career-high 21 points for the Waves (6-4) in a nonconference game at Pepperdine.
