Pumping Up the Fun With the Inflatable Theater Co.

Fred Garbo and Daielma Santos don’t worry about inflation--it’s their stock in trade. The pair’s unique brand of slapstick and movement, known as the Fred Garbo Inflatable Theater Co. with Daielma Santos, features hugely inflated, pneumatic suits in fantastic shapes and sizes, plus juggling, dance, visual comedy and general mischief.
Santos is a prop-comedy artist and a professional ballet dancer-choreographer from Brazil. You may have seen Maine native Garbo without knowing it--in addition to Broadway and off-Broadway credits for tumbling, juggling, torch-twirling and high flying, Garbo was “Sesame Street’s” Barkley the Dog.

Concerts for Kids: From chamber music to salsa ballet, the sixth season of the Da Camera Society’s “Children’s Concerts in Historic Sites” is an eclectic mix of family entertainment.
The season kicks off Feb. 8 at the Natural History Museum’s North American Mammals Hall, an appropriate setting to perform a tribute to animals in story and song by soprano Elissa Johnston, pianist Vickie Ray and storyteller Denise Iketani.
At the Southwest Museum on March 9, a cave decorated with examples of Native American rock art will provide the entrance to a “Spirit Horses” exhibit and a celebration of the majestic equines in music, stories and dance. Performers will be the multicultural Amernet String Quartet with storyteller April Wind Wright.
The series ends May 17 with a program of Latino jazz, stories and dance as Bobby Rodriguez and the HMA Salsa Ship perform at the lakeside Plaza de la Raza.
Single tickets are $10 per child and $18 per adult; “Family Paks” of four tickets (two children, two adults) are $43. Series subscriptions (four-ticket “Family Paks” for all three concerts) are $118.
