High Fashion to Meet High Expectations

Excitement is building for the Costume Council’s premiere exhibition of “Galanos” on March 25. The event will begin with a champagne reception and viewing at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and progress to a black-tie dinner.

American couturier James Galanos is being honored for 45 years of design. Seventy costumed mannequins, some dressed in gowns first worn by former First Lady Nancy Reagan, will highlight the exhibition. Reagan is honorary patroness.

Costume Council chairwoman Juli Miller and benefit chairwoman Jane Halgren say platinum benefactors ($10,000) will be invited to an exclusive dinner at Galanos’ home.

Tradition: Warner and Carol Henry were celebrating 40 years of family Twelfth Night parties last week at the California Club. His late parents, Warner “Pop” and Frances Henry, gave 20, and now the younger Henrys have given 20.

More than 100 friends and family members drank (Warner is a wine connoisseur) and ate well. When Gege Chambers found the pea in her chocolate dessert and Bill Horton a bean in his vanilla dessert, laughter and cheers raised the roof--all that was needed to declare them as new queen and king of the year.

Relinquishing red crowns were Marty Coffey and John Welborne. Former queens applauding the fun were Suzy Crowell, Shirley Laugharn, Patty Capps, Laney Techentin, Mary Hawley and Lois Madison. And the kings--Bob Carpenter, Byron Caps, Terry Gloege, Ed Landry and Dan Baker.
