SAN BERNARDINO — A 10-month-old girl was in critical condition Tuesday after being stabbed multiple times while she was cradled in her mother’s arms, authorities said.
Kristine Crenshaw was being held by her mother, Nikki Crenshaw, about 4 a.m. Tuesday when there was a knock at the front door, police spokeswoman Margaret Diamond said. Crenshaw told police that she answered the door and the assailant began to stab the baby.
The infant was taken to an undisclosed hospital where she was listed in critical condition with numerous stab wounds to her upper body.
Crenshaw, 25, was questioned at length after the attack. She told police that a young, short, man attacked her baby for an unknown reason, then fled. Crenshaw was not arrested.
