Favre Deal Close but First, the Game

Negotiations to extend quarterback Brett Favre’s contract aren’t expected to be completed until after the Super Bowl, Packer General Manager Ron Wolf said Tuesday.
The talks are close to being completed, Wolf said, offering no details.
Favre, the NFL’s most valuable player for the second consecutive season, is in the third year of a five-year $19-million contract.
He is seeking a seven-year contract extension worth about $7.5 million annually, with a $15-million signing bonus. The Packers appear willing to pay a bonus of $10 million or more.
“If a Cadillac got you where you were supposed to go,” Wolf said, “then you would like to keep that Cadillac.”
