Report: Falcons to Hire Reeves

Dan Reeves, fired by the New York Giants, is heading to Atlanta as head coach of the Falcons, a Chicago television station reported Tuesday.

WBBM-TV said it has learned that the Falcons could name Reeves coach as early as today. Reporter Tim Weigel said the information came from a source close to Reeves.

Jim Fassel, the Arizona Cardinals’ offensive coordinator known for his work with quarterbacks, will be hired as the New York Giants’ head coach this week, the New York Post reported.

The newspaper, citing unidentified sources, said Fassel could be introduced as the team’s coach as early as today.

Meanwhile, The Boston Globe, also citing unidentified sources, said that Michigan State Coach Nick Saban will be the Giants’ next coach. However, Michigan State President M. Peter McPherson told The Detroit News he is certain that Saban will stay.

While General Manager George Young would not confirm that a decision has been made, a Giants’ source told the Post that he “would not try to dissuade” the newspaper from reporting Fassel was the choice.
