The battle for men’s basketball supremacy in the Western State Conference’s Northern Division begins at 7:30 tonight when Ventura College plays host to Cuesta in an intra-divisional game at Ventura.
The Pirates, two-time defending state champions, defeated Hancock, and Cuesta handled Moorpark in intra-division openers this week.
Ventura (16-6) is ranked seventh in the state. Cuesta (21-4) is ranked 10th and has scored 100 or more points in 10 games.
Chris Clayton averages 17.2 points for the Pirates. Cuesta is led by Jamar Hill, who is shooting 60.4% and averaging 15.1 points.

Men’s basketball: At 7:30 p.m., Santa Monica at Glendale, Oxnard at Moorpark, Valley at West L.A. At 8:05 p.m., The Master’s at Cal State L.A.
Women’s basketball: At 5:30 p.m., Cuesta at Ventura, Cerro Coso at Antelope Valley, Oxnard at Moorpark, Santa Monica at Glendale, Valley at West L.A., Riverside La Sierra University at Cal Lutheran. At 7 p.m., Gonzaga at Pepperdine. At 7:05 p.m., Southern Utah at Cal State Northridge. At 7:30 p.m., Pacific Christian at The Master’s.
Women’s tennis: At 10 a.m., Azusa Pacific at Cal Lutheran. At 11 a.m., Miami at Pepperdine.
