Clinton Previews Cabinet at Club

President Clinton and more than half of his Cabinet were trooping behind closed doors to the 84th annual dinner of the Alfalfa Club--a private club of Washington’s ultra-elite that did not admit women until three years ago. This year, First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton and all four women in Clinton’s Cabinet were scheduled to attend the black-tie dinner. Sharing the microphone with Clinnton was retired Army Gen. Colin L. Powell, former Republican presidential candidate Steve Forbes and Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.).
