School Boundaries on Board’s Agenda
Redrawing middle school boundaries and putting one school on a year-round schedule as solutions to overcrowding are topics on the agenda for Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District’s board meeting tonight.
Asst. Supt. Kim Stallings said the changes would ease crowding at Bernardo Yorba Middle and Rio Vista Elementary schools. The changes would:
* Reroute Topaz Elementary graduates to Tuffree Middle School instead of Kraemer Middle School.
* Send Glenview Elementary School students to Yorba Linda Middle School instead of Bernardo Yorba Middle School, and move Glenview’s sixth-grade to Yorba Linda Middle.
* Put Rio Vista Elementary School on a year-round schedule, starting with the 1998-99 school year, and move Rio Vista’s sixth-grade to Kraemer Middle School.
Projections of the likely effects of the changes on the school district’s transportation system will be reported at the meeting.
The board will meet at 7 a.m. at the District Education Center, 4999 Casa Loma Ave., Yorba Linda.
