Woman Killed After Walking Into Traffic

SANTA ANA — A 49-year-old woman believed to be a transient was struck and killed by a van when she walked into traffic Monday evening, police said.
The woman, whose name is being withheld until relatives can be notified, walked into the No. 2 lane of traffic on North Tustin Avenue shortly before 7 p.m. and was run down by a van, Santa Ana Police Lt. Bob Chavez said.
The driver remained at the scene and was not cited by police.
The woman died shortly after being taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, Chavez said.
