Six stockbrokers and promoters have pleaded guilty to charges of bribery, racketeering, securities fraud and other criminal counts in an ongoing national investigation of bribery in the securities industry. The six guilty pleas were unsealed Thursday in Las Vegas, where the U.S. Attorney’s office, the Securities and Exchange Commission and other agencies are working on a case of broker bribery that involves dozens of stockbrokers. The pleas bring the total number of brokers charged in the case to 42. The indictments alleged that the brokers and promoters were bribed to push stock in three companies: Teletek Inc., United Payphone Services Inc. and Enrotek Corp. The defendants have agreed to cooperate in the government’s investigation.
