From Gospel music to a classic car caravan, several events will highlight Southern California College’s homecoming Tuesday through Saturday.
On Tuesday, the college hosts a homecoming basketball doubleheader as the Vanguards take on Fresno Pacific University at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 and include both games.
Car lovers will congregate from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday for a gathering of the Orange County Model T Ford Club in the college parking lot off Fair Drive. Members, who restore and preserve the early mass-produced vehicles, will show off their vehicles to visitors. The event is free.
Also Saturday at 7:30 p.m., Ralph Carmichael, a 1947 alumnus of the college, will conduct a big band Gospel concert in the gym. Carmichael has worked with Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, B.B. King, Count Basie and other jazz and blues legends. Tickets are $15.
Southern California is a private, Christian college with an emphasis in liberal arts. The college was opened in 1920 in Los Angeles and moved to its current location, 55 Fair Drive, in 1950.
