Travel Office Legal Fees Total $500,000

The Treasury Department has paid about $500,000 in legal fees for seven former White House travel office employees who were fired four years ago. The biggest chunk of the money, $410,607, went to attorneys for Billy R. Dale, the former travel office director who was acquitted of embezzlement charges. Dale was the only travel office employee who faced legal charges; five of the workers were later rehired in other government jobs. “We hope this concludes the long ordeal that the federal government chose to put Billy Dale through,” his attorney, Steven Tabackman said.
