Park Has a Strong Outing

Chan Ho Park provided further evidence he is ready to become the fifth starter Friday when the Dodgers lost an exhibition game to the Detroit Tigers, 3-2. Park pitched four innings, gave up one hit and struck out four. He has not permitted a run in seven innings this spring.
“Sandy Koufax has really helped me with my control,” said Park, who has not walked a batter. “He’s worked with me a lot, and you see the difference.”

Brett Butler, who had to leave because of a hip injury after the first inning of Thursday’s game, was feeling better Friday and hopes to be back in the lineup in a couple of days. And second baseman Wilton Guerrero, who injured his left shoulder Thursday, is expected to be playing again today. . . . Tiger Manager Buddy Bell missed the game to be with his wife, Gloria, who has cancer of the tonsils, the same illness that struck Butler last spring.
