Cox, from Laguna Beach High, showed fine midseason form as Orange Coast took first place in the 23-team Cuesta tournament last weekend. She finished first in two events and swam a leg on four winning relay teams. Cox won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:58.36 and the 500 freestyle (5:18.21). She swam the backstroke leg of the 400 medley relay that clinched the meet title in the final event.

* Rancho Santiago, sophomore. She pitched two complete-game victories and also had four hits and drove in a run.
