Celebrities Will Read to Children

Some of the entertainment world’s more literate celebrities, including former Byrds singer Chris Hillman, will read to children at the Ojai Library on Wednesday as part of the “Day of a Thousand Stars: The Great American Read Aloud.”
The event marks National Library Week, which begins today.
The idea is to encourage children to read, said Richard D. Rowe, interim library services administrator. Studies have shown that access to public libraries affects how much and how well children read, regardless of the level of affluence of a school or community.
Hillman will read at 10 a.m., actress Kim Maxwell Brown at 10:15 a.m., actor Dwier Brown at 10:30 a.m. and screenwriter Peter Bellwood at 10:45 a.m.
The Ojai Library is at 111 E. Ojai Ave.
