Coombes Gets Victory, Save as Fullerton Sweeps Pacific

Cal State Fullerton swept Pacific by a 4-2 margin twice in a Big West Conference softball doubleheader Sunday in Stockton.
Fullerton (20-18, 8-11 in conference) scored three times in the second inning of the second game, then hung on as Donna Coombes pitched a seven-hitter to improve to 8-7.
Coombes earned the save in the first game. She came in with the bases loaded, no outs and Fullerton leading, 4-2.
She got the first batter to hit into a double play that started with a force at home, then got a strikeout to end the inning.
Wendi Griffin had a two-run homer in the first game for Cal State Fullerton.
Pacific, ranked 24th, is 27-18, 11-11.
