The Cannes International Film Festival will give its first-ever Cinema Digital Technologies Award to Intel Corp. Chief Executive Andy Grove on May 16. The announcement was made jointly by festival officials and Intel on Tuesday.
The award recognizes “the contribution of the computer industry to movie creation.” It represents a publicity coup for Intel, which wants to promote increased use of its technology in the entertainment field. Among its initiatives, Intel has set up a new media lab at Creative Artists Agency and partnered with media outlets, including NBC and MTV, to showcase its Intercast technology.
