Rita H. Preston; Library Technician at Seminary

Rita H. Preston, a Ventura County resident for 47 years, died Tuesday at her Ventura home. She was 93.
She was born Feb. 10, 1904, in Sommerville, Mass.
She moved to Ventura County from San Diego and was a library technician at St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo for a quarter of a century. Pope John Paul II awarded her with the “Benemerenti” in 1987, a papal honor given to those who live an especially deserving Christian life.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church of Ventura and also Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
Survivors include one son, David A. Dichter of Ventura; one daughter, Beverly E. Davis of Butte, Mont.; one sister, Inez Escalante of La Mesa, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be said at 9 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, with the Rev. Michael Jennette officiating.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura.
