Flynn to Move Office From County Center

Ventura County Supervisor John Flynn wants to make it easier for constituents in his Oxnard-based district to reach him.
So Flynn said Wednesday that he plans to move his office and four staff members out of the county Government Center in Ventura to south Oxnard on June 30. California Federal Bank is donating free office space at 2900 Saviers Road.
“South Oxnard has felt neglected,” Flynn said, “and I want to move my office there to be part of the revitalization that is going on in the area.”
Flynn, an Oxnard resident, cited new crime prevention and welfare reform programs as a primary reason he wants to move his office into the community. His 5th District has the largest number of welfare recipients in the county.
It is not unusual for county officials to work outside the county Government Center. Supervisors Judy Mikels and Frank Schillo, whose districts are largely based in the east county, work out of offices in Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks. Supervisor Kathy Long, who has an office at the Government Center, also operates field offices in Santa Paula, Fillmore and Camarillo.
