Say Hey, Randy, He Says You Missed This One

It’s a pity Randy Harvey [June 12] has no sense of history. It wasn’t only the Willie Mays catch itself that was remarkable, which it was, it was what Willie did after he made the catch. He wheeled and threw to second base and nailed the runner trying to advance. And the fact that it was in a World Series game certainly added to the significance.

I have every admiration for Jim Edmonds and his athletic abilities, but any comparison to Willie Mays is absurd.

Editor’s Note: Mays did not throw out the runner, but kept him at first base.
