As part of its roadside sobriety checkpoint program, Oxnard police in cooperation with Port Hueneme police recently conducted their 10th check of the year.
Set up on Ventura Road between Devonshire Drive and Doris Avenue between 6 p.m. and midnight Saturday, 1,345 vehicles were stopped at the checkpoint, police said. Only one driver was given a field sobriety test, and no arrests for driving under the influence were made.
However, 14 drivers were cited for license violations and 11 vehicles were towed because of unlicensed drivers.
This was the 35th checkpoint set up since the program began.
The Oxnard Police Department will continue to run checkpoints at least twice a month through December to further reduce alcohol-related traffic accidents and deaths, officials said.
